A prayer for you

Prayer for Refugees

For those who have had to leave home with no certainty of return — here are words for the long road and the longing for somewhere safe.

The LORD preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow.
Psalm 146:9 (WEBBE)

Lord, I have had to leave my home, and I am holding on to Your promise that You watch over the foreigner and uphold those with no one else to lift them up. I carry what I could fit in my hands and a country I may never see again. Be near on this road — at the border, in the camp, in the waiting that never seems to end. Protect my family where I cannot, and please keep us together. Soften the strangers who hold our future in their decisions, and send us people who see us as people and not as a problem. Hold the grief of everything we left behind and the fear of everything ahead of us. I cannot promise my children where we will sleep next month, and I will not pretend I am not frightened; I am asking You to be the home we carry inside us until we find one again. Watch over us, Lord. Amen.
