Lord, a friendship of mine has come apart, and Your picture of setting down the gift at the altar to go and make things right keeps tugging at me. I miss my friend, and I want to mend this, so give me the nerve to reach out first even when my pride resists. Help me name my own part plainly, apologise without a hidden 'but', and listen to their hurt without rushing to defend myself. Prepare a good moment and the right words. Their response is theirs to choose, not mine to script; I can only extend an honest hand and trust You with what they do with it. However it lands, keep my heart soft and free of grudges. Make me a bridge-builder, Lord, and heal what You alone can in this friendship. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer for Reconciliation With a Friend
For a fractured friendship and the humbling first step toward peace.
“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”
