Lord, I want a pure mind, but my thoughts wander to places I do not want them — resentment, lust, envy, fear. David's prayer is mine: create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. I cannot scrub my own mind clean; only You can. Guard what I let in through my eyes and ears, and give me the discipline to turn from what pollutes me. When wrong thoughts come, help me not to wallow in them or to sink into guilt, but to hand them to You and turn my attention to what is good. Cleanse my thoughts, Lord, and renew my mind from the inside out. Amen.
