Lord, I come asking for Your protection, because the world can feel unsafe and I am more aware of that some days than others. Your word calls You a refuge and a fortress, the secret place where I can rest in Your shadow; let me actually live there rather than just believe it from a distance. Guard my body, my mind, and my going about each day. I am not asking that nothing hard will ever touch my life — I know You never promised that — but that whatever comes, You will be my shelter in it and I will not face it alone. Keep me from needless danger, give me wisdom to avoid what I can, and steady the fear that imagines the rest. Be my refuge, Lord, and my fortress. Amen.
