Lord, I am pregnant, and my heart is full of joy and fear at the same time. There is a life growing in me that I already love, and a hundred worries I cannot switch off — about the baby, about my body, about all the things that could go wrong. Your word says You formed my inmost being and knit me together in the womb, and I trust You are at work in this little one the same way. So be with my baby in the hidden place where I cannot watch or help. Be with me through the sickness, the tiredness, the appointments and the waiting. I cannot promise myself how this will end, and I will not pretend the fear away — so meet me inside it, and give me a peace that does not depend on knowing the outcome. Whatever these months hold, hold us. I carry this child, Lord, and I entrust both of us to You. Amen.
