Lord, I lift up the orphans of this world — the children with no mother to call for in the night, no father to make them feel safe, the ones in institutions and camps and on the streets. Your word calls You a father to the fatherless, a defender of the vulnerable, and I am holding You to that name. Be a father to these children where there is no one else. Comfort their grief, which is deeper than a child should ever have to carry. Protect them from those who would exploit their need. Raise up people and families to love them, and systems that serve them rather than fail them. And stir Your church — stir me — to do more than pray, to actually show up for the parentless in practical ways. Where I can give, send, foster, or welcome, make me willing. Be a father to the fatherless, Lord, and let them be found, and safe, and loved. Amen.
