Lord, my wife is bound by addiction, and I stand by feeling useless against something far stronger than her good intentions. Your word says Christ set us free for freedom's sake; I plead that release over my wife and ask You to cut the cords that hold her. I cannot do her recovery for her, and I will stop pretending I can. Move her to want help and to accept it — rehab, a therapist, a fellowship of others walking the same road. Break the secrecy and self-loathing that keep her stuck. Teach me to back her recovery without propping up the addiction, and carry our family through the wreckage. Cut her loose, Lord, a little more each day, and keep us both from despair. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer for My Wife Struggling With Addiction
Feeling powerless watching her caught in something stronger than her will.
