Lord, my son begins chemotherapy now, and it feels like too great a weight for so young a life. Your word says that underneath us are the everlasting arms — so I am asking You to put those arms beneath my boy, lower than the lowest he will sink in the weeks ahead. Be his dwelling place when his own body becomes an unfriendly place to live. Carry him through the sickness and the exhaustion the treatment will bring, and let him still find moments to be a child — to laugh, to play, to forget for an hour. Give me the strength to be steady and bright for him, and a private place to grieve where he cannot see. Hold my son in arms that will not tire and will not drop him. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer for My Son Starting Chemotherapy
Watching your child begin chemo means watching something far too big land on someone far too small.
“The eternal God is your dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms.”
