A prayer for you

Prayer for My Son in the Military

No parent quite gets used to that particular kind of waiting.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1 (WEBBE)

Lord, my son serves in the military, and no parent ever quite gets used to that particular kind of waiting. Your word calls You our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble; be exactly that for my boy, present with him in places I will never see. Watch over him in danger and in the long ordinary stretches that wear a soldier down. Guard his body, and guard the young heart underneath the uniform from what this work can do to it. Surround him with people who have his back. Hold me, too, in the silence between his calls, when imagination fills the quiet. I cannot protect him from here or pretend he is beyond harm; I can entrust my son to a refuge stronger than any armour. Be his present help, Lord. Amen.
