Lord, my son is booked in for an operation, and a parent waits in that hospital with their whole heart in their throat. Your word offers perfect peace to a mind fixed on You — fix his there, and mine. Calm him beforehand, especially the part of him still young enough to be frightened. Give the operating team skill and a steady focus on my boy. While he sleeps under sedation, guard him completely, and wake him safely when it is over. Keep me from falling apart in the waiting room. How it goes is not for me to determine; I can hand my son to surer hands than mine. Carry my son through this, Lord. Amen.
