Lord, the surgery is behind my son, and now come the long days of small, repetitive care — the medication schedule, the wound to watch, the patience for a boy who is sore and frightened and not himself. Your word tells me not to grow weary in doing good, that in due season we will reap if we do not give up; give me that stamina now, the unglamorous endurance of a parent at a bedside. Show me the practical things that actually help him — the right distraction, the gentle reassurance, the small meal he might manage. Heal what the surgeons mended, and keep infection far from him. And on the nights I am too tired to feel hopeful, hold us both up. Help me not give up on the good, slow work of getting my child well. Amen.
A prayer for you
