Lord, my sister is sick, and watching her struggle stirs up a fierce, protective love that I usually keep quiet. Your word makes a tender promise — that You restore health and mend wounds — and I am holding You to it on her behalf. Work in whatever has gone wrong in her body, and return her vitality bit by bit. When the treatment drains her or the waiting wears thin, prop her up and keep hopelessness at bay. Direct the clinicians and specialists in their care. And nudge me toward the practical kindnesses that actually help — dropping off dinner, minding her children, a text that says she is never far from my thoughts. Mend my sister, Lord, inside and out, and surround her with love. Amen.
