Lord, my child has strayed, and I have spent more hours than I can count rehearsing what went wrong and what I might have done differently. Your word shows me a father who, while his child was still a long way off, saw him and was filled with compassion and ran. Make me that kind of parent — more ready to embrace than to lecture, more compassion than blame, watching the horizon with hope instead of bitterness. I cannot control the choices my child makes, and I am learning, slowly, to release them to You. So I release them. Where I carry guilt, real or imagined, meet me with grace rather than condemnation. Keep my love unconditional and my door open. Protect my child on a road I cannot walk for them, and let them always know there is a way back — to me, and to You. Shape my heart, Lord, for whatever comes. Amen.
