Father, my mother spent her years carrying me, and now I watch illness press hard upon her. You have promised to carry her even to old age, so I ask You to keep that promise where I cannot reach. Ease her pain and her weariness. Honor the strength she has spent on her family by giving some of it back to her now. Let me serve her with patience and without resentment, and let our roles reversing draw us closer instead of breaking my heart. If there are words of love or forgiveness still unsaid between us, give us the time and the courage to say them. Carry her, Lord. Amen.
