Lord, my husband goes in for his operation soon, and I will be the one pacing the corridor outside. Your word says You grip his right hand and tell him not to fear; take the hand I will have to let go of at the doors. Loosen the worry he hides behind a calm face. Give the team that operates on him precision and good judgement. While he lies unconscious and unaware, watch over every breath, and ease him back to wakefulness afterwards. Keep my own fear from spiralling while news is slow to come. What happens in there is beyond my control, but my husband is not beyond Your reach. Bring him back to me, Lord. Amen.
