Lord, tomorrow they take my husband into surgery, and tonight neither of us can quite sleep. Your word says we can lie down in peace because You alone keep us safe, so I am asking for that peace over this house tonight — over him, and over the fear I am trying to hide from him. Tomorrow, steady the surgeon's hands and the whole team in that room. Watch over my husband while he is somewhere I cannot follow, asleep and unable to help himself. Bring him back to me whole. And in the long hours of waiting, when I can do nothing but pray, keep my own heart from unravelling. I lay us both down tonight in the only safety that holds. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer for My Husband Before Surgery
On the night before his surgery, when sleep won't come and you can't do the worrying for him, rest this here.
“In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, the LORD, make me live in safety.”
