A prayer for you

Prayer for My Friend Struggling With Addiction

Not wanting to be one more person who quietly gives up on them.

If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
John 8:36 (WEBBE)

Lord, my friend is in the clutches of addiction, and I refuse to be one more person who slips quietly away. Your word says the one the Son frees is free for real; I pray that liberty over my friend. I ask for it knowing the road bends and doubles back. Kindle in them a desire to change and the willingness to get genuine help — a programme, a counsellor, a roomful of people in recovery who understand. Make me a friend who stays honest — not feeding the habit, not deserting the person. Strip away the secrecy that drives them into hiding. Show me how to walk with them without being pulled under myself. Free my friend, Lord, and remind them they are still worth the fight. Amen.
