Lord, my father starts chemotherapy now, and it is a hard thing to watch strength drain from the man who taught me what strength was. Your word says to strengthen the weak hands and steady the feeble knees — so I am asking that for my dad, and asking You to make me one of the hands that helps. Strengthen whatever the treatment tries to take. Steady him through the sickness and the long, sapped days. Show me the practical ways to come alongside — the lift to the clinic, the jobs he can no longer manage, the quiet company that asks nothing of him. Let him receive help without feeling diminished by it. And when his hands are too weak and his knees too feeble, be the strength underneath them. Hold up my father, Lord, when he can no longer hold himself up. Amen.
