A prayer for you

Prayer for My Father Facing Surgery

Seeing the strong man of your childhood vulnerable on a hospital trolley.

The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1 (WEBBE)

Lord, my father is going under for surgery, and the sight of the strongest man I know laid out on a hospital trolley shakes something in me. Your word calls You our light and the strength of our life — so what is there to fear? Let that calm his nerves and mine. Ease the dread he is far too proud to mention. Grant the team operating real clarity and a sure touch, and let it do its work. Watch my dad while he is out cold, and return him to us as he heals. Steady me as the minutes drag by. How it ends is not mine to decide; I lay my father in Your hands. Be his light through this, Lord. Amen.
