A prayer for you

Prayer for My Enemies

One of the hardest things Jesus asks — to love and pray for those who wronged you.

But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
Matthew 5:44 (WEBBE)

Lord, You ask me to love my enemies and pray for those who have wronged me — one of the hardest commands You give. So, with Your help, I bring before You the people I am most tempted to hate. Soften my heart toward them. Keep me from plotting revenge or rejoicing in their downfall, and from letting their wrong turn me into someone bitter and hard. I do not have to pretend what they did was acceptable; I do have to refuse to let it own me. Where I can, make me a blessing rather than a curse to them. And do a work in their hearts that only You can do. Help me love my enemies, Lord, not because they deserve it, but because You first loved me. Amen.
