Lord, my daughter is ill, and a parent never stops feeling responsible for a hurting child, however old she is. In the gospel You turned to a suffering woman and called her 'daughter' before You made her well — turn that same gentleness toward mine. Reach whatever is making her sick, and bring her body back to strength. Calm the worry that flickers in her eyes, and let her feel, underneath everything, how treasured she is. Guide the hands and the decisions of everyone treating her. When I cannot take the illness from her, let me be the warm, unhurried presence at her side that says she is not facing this alone. Look on my daughter with mercy, Lord, and bring her back to health. Amen.
