Lord, my child has been pulled into addiction far too early, and I mourn the years and the innocence it is eating. Your word announces freedom for the captive and release for the chained; I speak that over my child today. I ask for their freedom, through a recovery I know will not be simple. Awaken in them a hunger to be well and a readiness to take the help on offer — treatment, counselling, a community that knows the road out. Send people who can get through to them. Stop me from grinding myself to dust with blame or surrendering to hopelessness. Give me discernment about how to love and where the limits must be. Unchain my child, Lord, and let this be a chapter, not the whole story. Amen.
