Lord, my child is so small and the world is so large, and I feel the gap between the two every single day. Your word says You put Your angels in charge of us, to guard us in all our ways; I picture them around my little one now. Watch over this child at play, at school, asleep, and everywhere I cannot be. Guard that small body from the accidents and illnesses I lie awake imagining, and that tender heart from harm I cannot foresee. Give me wisdom to protect well without smothering, and faith to entrust to You the parts I simply cannot control. I will not pretend I can keep every hurt away; I am only placing my child, daily, into hands that never tire. Set Your angels around my child, Lord. Amen.
