Lord, my little one needs surgery, and handing a small child to people in scrubs and walking away may be the hardest thing a parent does. Your word shows You scooping lambs into Your arms — scoop mine up in that room I am not allowed to enter. Soothe my child's fright, and mine. Give those operating tenderness and care with such a small body. Through the managed sleep that frightens me, keep my little one, and carry them back to my arms when it is over. Steady me while I wait. I cannot govern how it unfolds; I trust my child to the Shepherd of the lambs. Stay close to my little one, Lord, every second. Amen.
