Lord, my brother is in the military, and the bond we have grown up in makes his absence and his danger sit heavy on me. Your word says some trust in chariots and horses, but we trust the name of the LORD our God; so I put my trust there for him rather than in my own helpless worry. Watch over my brother in service — the risks, the distance, the things he will never fully describe to us. Guard his body and his mind, and keep him himself through all of it. Surround him with comrades who would not leave him behind. Steady our family, and me, through the waiting. I cannot stand beside him or pretend he is beyond harm; I can trust the name that is stronger than any weapon. Keep my brother, Lord. Amen.
