Lord, I am facing the end of life — mine or someone I love dearly — and I am asking for peace in the hardest passage of all. Your word says that even walking through the valley of the shadow of death, we need fear no evil, because You are with us; be that close presence now. Ease the fear of dying and the pain of letting go. Give comfort that the world cannot give, and the assurance of Your nearness and Your promises beyond this life. Let there be time for the words that matter — love, forgiveness, gratitude, goodbye. Surround us with tenderness and good care. Hold what is too heavy for us to hold. Walk with us through the valley, Lord, and grant a deep and lasting peace. Amen.
