Lord, the treatment is behind me and I am supposed to feel relief, but a low anxiety follows me now — every ache makes me wonder if it has come back. Your word tells me not to be anxious for tomorrow, that each day carries enough of its own, so I am handing tomorrow to You, because I cannot carry it and live today at the same time. I give You the scans I cannot control and the future I cannot see. Help me to receive this returning health as a gift rather than a thing to guard with fear. Teach me to live in this day — its small joys, its ordinary tasks — instead of bracing against the next one. You hold all my tomorrows; let that be enough. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer During Recovery
Recovery comes with a quieter fear — the worry about whether it will return; set tomorrow down for a moment.
“Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient.”
