Lord, in a few moments Your word will be preached, and I ask You to take over what I cannot do. Your word calls me to preach faithfully, in season and out, with patience; help me be true to the text and not to my own cleverness. Empty me of the need to impress, and fill me with Your Spirit. Let the message be clear, true, and anointed, reaching hearts I cannot see into. Speak through my words, and even past them, to everyone listening. Guard me from pride if it goes well and from despair if it does not. May they hear from You, Lord, and not just from me. Amen.
