A prayer for you

Prayer After a Breakup

When it just hurts — grief that surprises you with its weight, and no rush through it.

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 (WEBBE)

Lord, a relationship has ended, and I am carrying the kind of grief that surprises me with its weight. Your word says You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds; I need that healing now, because right now it just hurts. Sit with me in the loss without rushing me through it. Quiet the voice that replays everything and lays all the blame on me — help me learn what is mine to learn without being crushed by it. Take care of the person I have parted from, too. Slowly restore my sense of who I am apart from us. I do not know what comes next, and I am not ready to pretend I am fine; I am only asking You to hold me while I heal. Bind up my broken heart, Lord. Amen.
