Father, the day has run its course, and I come to You before I close my eyes. Your word lets me lie down in peace because You alone keep me secure; so I unclench from the day and trust the dark hours to You. Thank You for the mercies scattered through today, even the ones I missed in the rush. Where I was short-tempered, careless, or afraid, forgive me, and let me leave it at Your feet rather than rehearse it on my pillow. Hush the unfinished business and the tomorrow-worries that want to keep me up. Be the stillness my body and mind are aching for. I close this day in Your peace, Father, until morning. Amen.
